AboutUs.org follow up

A big thank you and merci to Kristina and Asad

A big thank you and merci to Kristina and Asad

A few days ago I posted on AboutUs.Org, a website that I’d been referred to and have found very useful.

In a nutshell, it’s a wiki-style website that enables you to search for websites and businesses online that you may otherwise been aware of and if you’re a website owner, you can add a profile page for your own website to increase your online exposure.

I added my 6 websites to AboutUs.org and have already started seeing some positive results.

First off, after I posted my above-mentioned post, I received a nice Tweet from AboutUs.org staffer Kristina who not only Tweeted me, she followed me on her Twitter feed and AboutUs.org’s Twitter feed and also retweeted my Tweet regarding my AboutUs.org experience. This was certainly very nice and appreciated and very unexpected. The result of her actions helped me receive several comments from people who had visited this website as a result of Kristina’s Tweet and they introduced me to several more websites (i.e. the commentors websites) that I was previously unaware of.

Further, I received some help from another AboutUs.org staffer named Asad who helped me gain Do Follow links for my AboutUs.org profile pages (one great benefit for webmasters who use AboutUs.org) and also cleared up a mistake I’d made when I accidentally spelled my own name wrong (yep, I did) when setting up the username for my AboutUs.org account. He responded very quickly and got me fixed up and his help was much appreciated. He also Liked this site on Facebook which again, was also very helpful.

The actions of Kristina and Asad were great for me not only because of how they both helped my website gain some traction and exposure, but they helped to put a face to a website so to speak. Anyone who spends any amount of time online contacting various websites and businesses knows that it can get very impersonal, very quickly. Dealing with both Kristina and Asad helped to personalize AboutUs.org for me and let me know that yes, there are real people working there to help users like myself and you too.

So, if you haven’t checked out AboutUs.org yet, I’d suggest doing it now regardless of whether you want to search for websites or add your own website(s) to their growing database.

You can check out their Great AboutUs pages section to see what other people have done to set up their pages and to get ideas for yourself. I found this page very useful in terms of figuring out how to do some wiki-style coding to pretty up my pages a bit with various kinds of text and images added.

AboutUs.org asks that people sign up for a free account using their real name to help keep things real and honest and I think that’s a great idea. But they also walk the walk in my experience with people like Kristina and Asad putting themselves out front with their real names too.

Thank you to both Kristina and Asad for your help and advice over the past few days.

  1. It’s arduous to search out educated individuals on this matter, however you sound like you understand what you’re speaking about! Thanks
